Ballard Social is a monthly event created to bring those who live and work in Ballard together. In the last few years, so many new apartments, condos, townhouses and homes have gone up bringing an influx of new residents to Ballard. Ballard Social is a cocktail party where these residents can meet and get to know each other as neighbors.
We’ll be a large group by the bar. There will be a host. When you see a host, please introduce yourself. She/he will introduce you to some other attendees. Or if everyone is busy, just introduce yourself to the person next to you. Everyone is there to meet new people!
It will take place on the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 7 pm to 9 pm. The location will change each time. We try new Ballard bars & restaurants. Each month we will send out an email to the group announcing the new location.
To receive this email, sign up or see sign-up box at the bottom of this page.
Absolutely! – most people do.
Either a host will introduce you to other guests or you can start the introduction yourself. Everyone is friendly and there to socialize.
Everyone who wants to attend is welcome! We are a fun crowd!
It’s free. Just pay for your own drinks or food at the bar like you normally would. The venue will probably be 21 and over.
25-35 people. There are over 600 people currently on the email list.

Eventually it would be a nice if a group of people ran it. Right now, it’s Andrea. She has lived in Ballard since 1999. She does event production, she was also a partner in the BalMar, a bar/restaurant. Over ten years ago, she founded a social networking group called Space City Mixer. Ballard Social is a personal project of hers - something that makes her happy. She always enjoys meeting new people!
When Andrea takes walks in the evening, she’s been aware of the blue glow of TV’s emanating from apartment and condo windows. She imagines all of these interesting people home from work, spending their evenings watching TV. She thinks this is a shame.
When instead they could be out with each other enjoying a drink or meal in their own neighborhood ... Ballard!
Especially on the weekdays, it’s not easy to plan a get-together with a friend who lives in a different neighborhood (due to traffic, commute, etc), but if you knew people in your own neighborhood, how easy … it would be just a walk or quick drive to meet for a coffee!
Through Ballard Social, Andrea would like to create a way for Ballard residents to meet each other and build a greater sense of community. You can email her directly at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Hope to see you at the next Ballard Social! :)
